Do you really want financial freedom?
Or is there a bigger desire which you're unaware of?
After graduating, I felt like I was standing in the start line of a race with no fixed track or finish line.
I was clueless about what I’m supposed to do with my career. Sometimes I used to fantasize about my future and feel amazing. But mostly I was overwhelmed by the information overload.
From researching high-paying careers to business ideas. I was basically trying to figure out a way to earn a lot and attain financial freedom.
Why?
Because that’s the goal which makes you successful as per big YouTubers.
But I realised there is something more important than that.
Firstly what does financial freedom mean to you?
Usually, it’s X amount of money which defines financial freedom for people.
But is it all you want?
Will that alone give you the lifestyle you desire?
Money is super important but I don’t think that alone defines one’s lifestyle. There is a lot more to it.
From the relationship you have with people around you to the relationship you have with yourself. Because at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how much money you have, what matters is how you feel about yourself.
Basically, the way you live your life each day.
The problem is that our thinking is limited to only achieving things instead of reflecting on how we’re living daily and if we want to really live like this.
Therefore, frequent burnouts and mental chaos has become part of our lives.
But the important question is what do I really want?
Do I really want to make my career a struggle?
Will my current goals really change the way I live?
Is there another way to live where life feels effortless?
Not after achieving some goal, but right now.
At this moment.
So you don’t have to postpone your happiness.
You can use happiness as an energy to work towards your goals. Imagine waking up with full of energy, happiness and excitement for the day.
What’s more important than this?
Think about it.
I mean you’re deepest desire behind all your goals is happiness. And yet you’re postponing it until you achieve X goals.
I don’t see any point there.
Do want to achieve your goals just because others are doing the same or are you chasing it for the happiness (short-lived) which comes after achieving?
Next time you plan for a getaway to a mountain or beach. Be sure to spend some time with yourself. Because when you’re away from the fast phased environment, you’re peaceful and not in control of your emotions or thoughts.
And that’s when you can go deep and think about what you really want in life.
For me at least, I want to live every moment to its fullest. Let it be work, play or even sleep :) There is nothing more blissful than a peaceful sleep.
No more sacrifices for the future.
(Even if something looks like a sacrifice from the outside, it doesn’t feel like it from within.)
Whatever I’m doing I want to do it willingly.
Living a life which feels effortless.
That’s freedom for me.
And that’s my ultimate goal.
(where financial freedom is just a part of it)
You may not be able to achieve financial freedom at this moment.
But you definitely have the freedom to live this moment in whatever way you want.
Because this moment is all you have.
Wishing you an effortless and fun-filled day ahead.
Until next week…
